Mosaics Workshops

Marion is a self-taught mosaic artist. She has made many small and large mosaics for the Mahoe Hills studio and garden. All mosaics are made from recycled materials.

If you are into recycling and would love to turn your broken or chipped crockery into something special than this is the workshop for you. Every mosaic made from recycled materials is unique and personal.
The mosaic workshop is over 1.5 days. You will be designing and glueing your item on the first day. On the second day you will be grouting your work.

Cost for 1.5 days workshop is $180. Maximum number for this workshop is five people but please contact us if your group is larger or if you would like to make a small mosaic in one day).
All materials for this workshop are provided but if you have some broken crockery or tiles that you would like to incorporate please bring them along.

Brief introduction to mosaics

Six steps, from choosing your materials to grouting the finished piece. Marion walks you through every one. No experience is needed and all materials are provided.

Step 1

Choose your materials

Bring along or choose from recycled crockery, tiles and broken china. Every piece adds colour and character to your mosaic.

STEP 2

Design your piece

Sketch out your pattern and lay out your chosen pieces to plan the colours and shapes before you begin.

STEP 3

Cut and shape

Break and trim your crockery and tiles into the shapes you need.

STEP 4

Glue it down

Glue each piece onto your base, following your design or you can be completely random too. This is where your mosaic really takes shape.

STEP 5

Grout your work

Once the glue has dried you can grout your piece. Grouting gives the piece strength and it brings all the pieces together. You will be surprised how good it looks.

STEP 6

Clean and finish

After a final clean and polish your mosaic is ready
