Mosaics

With mosaics, even as an absolute beginner, you can achieve great results. In this workshop we will explore ideas, learn about different techniques and materials. You will be designing, glueing and grouting an item. There is a choice of mosaicing a vase or pot,  a few stepping stone(s),  a house number or a mirror.

Marion is a self-taught mosaic artist.  She has made many small and large mosaics for the Mahoe Hills studio and for the garden. Marion also makes mirrors on order using special and personal broken pieces.

All mosaics are made from recycled materials. The base items as well as the tiles and crockery are all sourced from second hand shops.

The mosaic workshop is over 1.5 days. You will be designing and glueing your item on the first day. On the second day  you will be grouting your work.

A short workshop is also an option (see below).

The workshop can be one-to-one tuition or you can get a group of friends together. You can bring your own lunch or a vegetarian lunch can be included.

All materials are provided but if you have some broken crockery or tiles that you would like to incorporate please bring them along.

Costs for a 1.5 day workshop (9.30 am – 4 pm on day one and approximately 3 hours for grouting on the second day):

• One person: $160
• Two to four participants: $110 per person
• Child 10-16 years $80 (needs to be accompanied by one or more adults)
• Special rates for groups 4+ people on application. Reduced rates for low-income groups.
• All materials and morning and afternoon tea are included
• Vegetarian lunch can be included $15 per person
